Frequently Asked Questions

The idea came when we saw the tourist groups heading to the place and the lack of basic services such as a place to eat and drink, rest and bathrooms, as well as to stimulate tourism in this ancient village that contains many tourist attractions.

There is no doubt that Al-Sibani neighborhood is a tourist attraction and is registered as a world heritage site. It also attracts the attention of many researchers and scholars in the field of heritage due to its unique style, as it is located on the slope of a mountain and the passage of Al-Khatmin Falaj through its two branches, Al-Fawq Falaj and Al-Taht Falaj, along the neighborhood, as well as its fortified system of a watchtower at the top, a wall surrounding it, and mornings that close its doors when needed. All these reasons helped us choose to establish this vital project.

“Beit Al Sabah” is the old name of this house due to its location on the western side of the main morning of Al-Sibani neighborhood, so we decided to keep the name as it was, “Beit Al Sabah.”

The house was in a deplorable condition, there were no standing ceilings and some of the walls were affected by rain falling on them from the inside and outside. The house was restored to be a heritage inn, so we were keen in the restoration process to use materials from the local environment such as clay and Omani mortar, but we were forced to use kendal wood instead of trunks due to the durability of the kendal and its long life and the difficulty of providing trunks in the local market.

Reviving the heritage of our ancestors and preserving it from damage will undoubtedly help, God willing, in activating tourism, whether in the neighborhood in particular or in the district of Birkat al-Mouz in general.

The lodge has bedrooms, a café, a heritage gallery and will provide guidance to other tourist attractions within the district.

There is no doubt that restoration is not an easy task, especially after the walls of these buildings have been affected by rain and their wood has been affected by sand. Therefore, restoration requires treating the foundations, repairing the walls and replacing old windows and doors with new ones, as well as using Omani mortar. It is also necessary to provide guests with modern bathrooms, lighting and air conditioning. All these factors increase the cost of restoration, which amounts to approximately 100,000 Omani riyals.

Scarcity of technical supervisors and contractors, high cost of restoration, unavailability of basic materials, and lack of support from the relevant authorities.

Barakat Al-Mouz and Harat Al-Sibani are a transit station to all tourist places in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, as well as providing a specialized café and a wonderful view of the entire neighborhood, as well as a view of the various farms.

The presence of specialty coffee distinguished Beit Al Sabah from others, as well as its location in the middle of the neighborhood and farms, and the flow of the two irrigation canals of Falaj Al Khatmeen next to it and through it.

Developing the neighborhood to become a global tourist attraction and a center for studying Omani heritage.
